A pressing question is on the minds of many Braves fans—what’s the future for Max Fried?

Fried has been a cornerstone for the Braves, not only as a standout pitcher but as an exceptional athlete all around. Even Freddie Freeman once called him one of the toughest pitchers he’s ever faced. From keeping the Cubs at bay for 85 pitches to completely dominating the Astros in Game 6 of the 2021 World Series, Fried has solidified his place as an all-star player. But even a well-rounded player like him has a timeline.

There’s growing speculation that the Braves may not offer Fried another contract, and it’s not without reason. With Strider, Lopez, and Sale already locked in, and the rise of Spencer Schwellenbach, the Braves might need to prioritize future contracts before player costs soar. Add to that Fried’s injury struggles this season, and the decision becomes even more complex.

Given his age and injury history, Fried may no longer be a sound business move for the Braves. It’s tough to watch, especially considering how he’s evolved from his Gwinnett Stripers days in 2017 to becoming one of the best pitchers Braves fans have seen in the past decade. His loyalty and devoted fan base deserve more than a slow and quiet parting.

What do you think? It feels bittersweet, but business is business. Hopefully, both parties can find a fair price to keep Fried. Regardless, I think we have to trust AA whichever way.
