The Braves Reverse Jinx
What to do in Atlanta around in July during All-Star weekend

There’s just no way around it: this team is hard to watch right now.
Lifeless. Abysmal. Uninspired. Whatever word you want to use for the Braves’ offense is fine… unless it’s a positive one.
We’re not here to overanalyze. We’re just saying what we’re all thinking: it stinks.
When Ronald Acuña Jr. gets intentionally walked to load the bases for Austin Riley in a tight game… you know it’s bad.
This week, we averaged just 2.5 runs per game in our losses. Chris Sale gave us 10 strikeouts in six innings on Thursday—and we still lost 2-1. Merrill Kelly took a no-hitter into the sixth on Wednesday. It’s not just unlucky. It’s flat-out painful.
No clue how we fix it. No magic trade. No quick spark.
And while we’re being dramatic… let’s just say it: the Braves will never win another game in 2025 and we’re definitely not making the playoffs. Zero chance. (Just kidding… sort of.)
Okay. Deep breath. Let's talk bright spots.
Chris Sale is quietly dealing: He just racked up 10 strikeouts against Arizona and passed Christy Mathewson for 39th on the all-time K list. His ERA has been solid, and if he stays healthy, he’s a real asset down the stretch.
Trade Deadline Talk: Braves Today dropped two interesting pieces this week. One explores a “soft sell” strategy at the deadline (moving short-term contracts without blowing things up). The other says we may not need to rush out and get more pitching—if we can stay healthy. Big if.
If You’re Around for All-Star Weekend… Here's What We’d Do
We’re not tour guides. Just Braves fans who live here and have some thoughts on where to hang, what to eat, and how to make the most of All-Star Weekend in Atlanta. If you’re coming in for the game here’s our unofficial guide.
Stuff Inside Truist Park
Even if there’s no Braves game, Truist is still worth wandering around.
Monument Garden is cool. Lots of history, Hank Aaron stuff, and it’s air-conditioned, which matters.
The Chop House is a good spot to grab a drink and post up with a view.
Food + Drinks at The Battery
Everything’s walkable, and most places have outdoor seating, which is nice in the evening.
Terrapin Taproom has solid beer and Fox Bros. BBQ—you can’t go wrong with brisket.
ASW Distillery is nearby if you’re more of a whiskey person. Super chill spot.
Yard House has a massive beer list and TVs everywhere. Good spot to hang before or after events.
Outside the Stadium: Stuff to Do Around Atlanta
If you want to explore the city a bit, here’s some low-key stuff that’s worth the time.
Piedmont Park – Big open space with fountains and people-watching. Especially good if you have kids that need to burn some energy.
Georgia Aquarium (Glow Nights) – It’s massive, and the nighttime glow event adds a cool twist.
Neighborhoods Worth Wandering
Summerhill – Small but packed with great spots. Grab coffee at Little Tart, a sandwich at How Crispy Express, or dinner at Talat Market if you’re feeling fancy.
Virginia-Highland – Chill, walkable area with local shops, dive bars, and patios. Easy place to spend a few hours without a plan.
The Atlanta BeltLine – One of the best ways to see the city. You can walk, rent a scooter, or bike the Eastside Trail and stop at parks, breweries, and restaurants along the way.
Random Events That Might Be Your Thing
WWE at Center Stage (July 12) – Could be fun if you’re into it, or even if you’re not. People go hard for it.
All-Star Weekend Pop-Up at Cumberland Mall (July 11–13) – Think local vendors, food, and baseball vibes without needing a ticket.
Beyoncé at Mercedes-Benz (July 12 & 13) – If you’re one of the lucky ones with tickets, enough said.
Quick Escapes
Stone Mountain – About a 30-minute drive, and the hike to the top is worth it. They’ve got drone shows and fireworks around the 4th and sometimes through July.
Lake Lanier – A little farther out, but great if you want to rent a boat or just hangout by the water and chill.
That’s the lineup. Atlanta’s gonna be packed with energy that weekend, so you really can’t go wrong.
