Reasons Andruw Jones should be in the Hall of Fame (if you’re not convinced already)

If we’re not writing an “Andruw Jones Inducted to the Hall of Fame” newsletter in January, we’ll be blaming the two people who ruined the unanimous Maddox vote.

If for some reason, you object to Jones being in the Hall of Fame here’s a litany of reasons why you should change your mind:

Defensive Runs Saved: 235 (that’s 50 runs better than Hall of Famers Willie Mays and 30 more than Roberto Clemente)

Recipient of 10 Gold Gloves: There are only 5 other outfielders with that many wins and they’re all in the Hall of Fame (Mays, Clemente, Kaline, Griffey Jr. Ichiro)

434 home runs: There are only 4 players with 10 Gold Gloves and 400+ homers and only 1 of them isn’t in the Hall of Fame…and it isn’t Mays, Schmidt, or Griffey Jr. 👀

Most career seasons with 150+ games played in CF and 25 HRs- Mays and Jones have 10, nobody else even has half that! If you add the qualifying stat of 25 DRS for a season with 25 bombs, Jones has 4, while the other 19,901 players in history combine for just 2!

So, if arguably the most important position in the field is Centerfield, and Andruw Jones is inarguably on the Mt. Rushmore of defensive CFs, AND he provided a decade of legit power to a high-caliber lineup… he’s pretty freaking good, right? Add that line of thinking to all of the legendary names his career matches up with or exceeds… there’s no doubt in our minds that he is a HOFer and should be up there next to the greats we talked about last week.
